Heather has been leading Yoga Nidra since 2006.  "The first time I did a Yoga Nidra I knew I wanted to share it with others!"  Heather brought Yoga Nidra to her yoga studio, Santosha and used her experience to help students deepen their understanding and experience with the practice.  Heather has assisted the Amrit Yoga Institute in many Yoga Nidra Professional Trainings one being held at Santosha Yoga Studio.

What is Yoga Nidra?

The literal translation of Yoga Nidra is Yogic Sleep. It is an ancient form of meditation that will take you into the deepest levels of relaxation while still remaining fully aware. When practicing the Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra, your brain waves drop into the alpha and theta state. As you progressively enter deeper and subtler brain waves you become more relaxed, integrated, expansive and present. Eventually, you completely shift out of identification with the body, mind and ego. In this deep state beyond ordinary waking consciousness, your body and mind naturally re-align, allowing you to effortlessly disengage from restrictive physical, mental and emotional patterning. Here, you are free to create a life that is an expression of higher consciousness, rather than acquired conditioning.

Yoga Nidra Addresses the Root of All Problems

“You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”   -Albert Einstein

Most of us try to solve our problems with the same mind that created them.
Instead, Yoga Nidra helps you find solutions by transcending the linear dimension of logic, reason, and memory. In Yoga Nidra, shifts arise from pure consciousness which exists beyond the confines of the intellect.

In the linear approach, a rope wrapped a hundred times around a post would require being unwound a hundred times in the opposite direction. Yoga Nidra burns the rope rather than unwinding it. It allows you to resolve negative habitual patterns by going directly to the root of self-destructive fears, beliefs and habits to regain freedom.

Alleviate the Cause of Stress
Stress arises when we are so attached to our idea of how things “should” be that we cannot allow things to be as they are. From something as simple as how we “should” look to how the environment “should” be protected, we let our resistance to what is cause us to feel stress. In Yoga Nidra, we relax enough to let go of expectations and demands about how things “should” be. Our resistances to life progressively dissolve. We are at peace with more things more of the time.

What Can Yoga Nidra Do for Me?
Yoga Nidra can enhance the healing process and boost the immune system. It is effective in helping people with stress, addictions, sleep disorders, nervous conditions and in releasing long-standing behavioral patterns.

Through the practice of the Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra, you can:

•Promote the healing of disease, lower blood pressure, reduce stress, boost the immune system, and slow the aging process.

•Free yourself from old patterns of behavior with speed and ease through total relaxation, rather than from hard work and struggle.

Private Yoga Nidra Sessions with Heather

When practiced over an extended period of time mindfulness techniques like Yoga Nidra have been proven to be more effective than cognitive therapy.  A private Yoga Nidra with Heather begins with a questionnaire to determine your specific needs for the session.  Heather then will create a Yoga Nidra specifically for you.  You may record the session.  Call me to set up your private phone session.

Yoga Nidra is translated as yogic sleep.

It is an ancient powerful state of deep meditation that may be quickly and effortlessly accessed using the guidance of a facilitator.

All you need to be able to do is lay or sit still and stay awake!

The practice brings forth the immediate experience of peace, and with continued practice creates healing internally (emotional and mental) as well as externally (lowers blood pressure, treats anxiety, insomnia, increases immune function...).

As you progressively enter into deeper levels of yoga nidra you become more relaxed, integrated, expansive and present which will be taken into your everyday life.

Personally this practice has greatly reduced my migraines and allergies and I find myself living a more balanced, peaceful life.
